WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover Regional Medical Center will host a job fair for nurse aide positions this weekend.

The event will take place Saturday from 10am to 2pm at the Betty H. Cameron Women's and Children's Hospital.

A hiring manager will be on site for interviews, so qualified candidates can put on their scrubs and get to work within days.

While jobs in the area seem scarce, hospital officials say nursing is one career that is always in demand.

"Even in today's economy we're all struggling, you know with folks who are losing jobs and maybe losing health care benefits, but we still have patients to take care of," said Chief Nurse Executive Mary Ellen Bonczek.  "So our approach is to go after really the best of the nurse aids in our community that can join our team."

The hospital is looking for 20 nurse aids (aide I and II) and 10 emergency department technicians.

Officials ask that applicants bring proof of certification with them to the event.

If you are not certified, there are 175 other job openings at the hospital.  For a listing, click here.
