BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A new athletic center at Brunswick Community College is named after Brunswick County resident Dinah Gore.

Gore and her husband donated $2 million towards the center and other college programs.

After some technical difficulties, the Brunswick Community College Fitness and Aquatics Center is now open to the public.

The 55,000 square feet facility, located on the main campus of BCC in Supply, became open to the public Sunday, March 22.

The opening was delayed because the emergency lighting system needed additional upgrades.

The athletic center boasts a gymnasium, a fitness center, an Olympic size swimming pool, a warm water pool, an aerobics studio, and an elevated track, and includes amenities like drop-in babysitting, locker rooms, and concessions.
