WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - This holiday season, the trend of going green and helping the environment rages on.
Studies show that there's an addition five million tons of additional trash thrown out during the holiday season.
It was last Christmas when Carolina Beach mom Stephanie Lancaster realized she needed to do her part.
"We looked around our living room last year at Christmas and we had six garbage bags full of trash. We thought there should be a better way and we began to experiment with different prototypes, and that's when we came up with the fabric wrapper," says Lancaster.
Lancaster now dedicates her time to her new online business where she sells her invention, fabric wrapper.
Instead of regular wrapping paper, fabric wrapper is reusable and reversible gift wrap because it's made from cloth.
"I would love to see fabric wrapper continue to offer a variety of products to customers, but to also branch out to other green/eco gifts, so that we can be a one-stop shop for customers that want to buy an eco friendly product," says Lancaster.
Fabric wrapper sells anywhere between six and fourteen dollars.
