FORT FISHER, NC (WECT) - Visitors to the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher were given a rare look Saturday at some of the aquarium's newest members.
The aquarium kicked off its first ever baby weekend. Visitors got to see, touch and learn about the aquarium's most recent babies.
A baby alligator, turtles, snakes, ducks and hermit crabs were only some of the animals on display. The aquarium's curator said that with the amount of interest the visitors have had, this will likely become an event held a few times a year.
"This is our first shot at it, so we are hoping to get a good response. We'll probably continue to do this every quarter. We'll have a lot of new babies in the spring, and it will probably be a really good time next spring to have another weekend like this and show some of the new arrivals for the year," said Hap Fatzinger of the aquarium.
