LELAND -- The mayoral race in Leland is heating up.
Both Walter Futch and Franky Thomas were out on Tuesday trying to rake in last minute votes. Supporters for both men were not far behind, sticking up signs and handing out flyers to voters.
Futch is the incumbent and Thomas is a former mayor.
Supporters on both sides say the race will be close.
"He listens to a lot of people, he hasn't got his mind made up until the facts are in," explained Carl Antos, a Thomas supporter.
"We need to be careful about the growth and be able to make it a place that were going to want to live and work and raise our families,"said Martha Futch, a supporter of Futch.
Both candidates told WECT that they will focus on Leland's growing future if elected.
