COLUMBUS COUNTY -- One day after his conviction on a murder charge, Ramel Troy is now at the Central Prison in Raleigh.
It only took a few hours on Wednesday for the jury to find Ramel Troy guilty of murdering Chase Powell.
Powell is the Whiteville High School graduate whose disappearance and death stunned his hometown back in 2002.
The defense believed the case was weak, saying that the state never linked Troy to Powell or to the murder scene.
Powell's family says justice has been served.
