WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Two men face charges after police found drugs at a motel.

Officers stopped to check a car in the Travelodge parking lot on Market Street Monday morning and talked to Calvin Coolidge Underdue, the man driving the car.

Underdue admitted to having a concealed carry permit and a weapon on him.

Officers say Underdue looked nervous, and they requested a K-9 unit to investigate.  One of the dogs lead officers to the back of the car.  Police say when Underdue saw that, he fainted.

Officers searched the vehicle and found 300 grams of cocaine.  They also seized $1,680 in cash and a .22 magnum handgun.

Underdue, who is from Halifax, NC, was arrested and charged with:

  • trafficking cocaine
  • possession with intent to sell and distribute cocaine
  • maintaining a vehicle for drug activity

Because of this incident, officers were able to get a search warrant for a room at the Travelodge.

They arrested Abdul Ramont McKoy who is from Wilmington.  They say he had small amounts of heroin and marijuana in his possession.

McKoy is charged with:

  • possession of schedule I (heroin)
  • possession of marijuana
