NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Some Monkey Junction residents have filed an appeal against the proposed annexation.
The petitioners are from Royal Palms Mobile Home Park, a property within the annexation area.
In May, the Wilmington City Council voted to annex about 1,000 acres in the Monkey Junction area.
The land is scheduled to become part of the city in the summer of 2010, but residents who fought the effort had until Monday at 5:00 to file an appeal.
