WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Star Spangled Banner is an American tradition - it's sung at the start of every major sporting event and ceremonies nationwide.

Now, with some help from the Conan O'Brien musicians, one Wilmington musician has produced a new American anthem he hopes will lift the spirit of Americans across the nation.

Longtime musician David Scott, of the David Scott Group, said life has been good to him and his family, but knows many Americans are struggling from day to day.

In an effort to share his happiness with those who may be having a difficult time, Scott created the new anthem and a video that highlights bold historic images and American landscapes.

JK Loftin at Cape Fear Studio in Wilmington said a nurtured friendship gave the piece an extra boost he never imagined.  He also said the horn section from Conan O'Brien put a special touch on the song.

Scott hopes the song will catch on around the nation and give folks a new sense of hope.
