WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Fifth graders at College Park Elementary school tested homemade rockets Friday.
As part of a program paid for by the Department of Defense, Star Gaze employees travel across the state teaching fifth graders about math and science.
Then, students have the opportunity to learn from hands on experience.
"The blast out looked really cool," said fifth grader Erin Sjuisda. "I'm excited for that and we learned a lot, so it's cool, so we can apply what we learned to real life and all that."
The students also built a space station, a space shuttle, and habitats for astronauts to live.
