NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The City of Wilmington wants to annex a larger part of New Hanover County than first planned.
According to a city news release, the proposed annexation area had to be expanded to meet state law.
Now it includes more than 1,000 acres in the Monkey Junction area and nearly 4,000 residents.
It will cost an additional $1 million for the city to provide water and sewer service to the expanded area.
Council is expected to consider the plan at its Feb. 3 meeting.
