FAIR BLUFF-- The Columbus County School Superintendent says classes were full and there were no problems despite hate messages over the weekend.
Nearly 100 hundred people in the Fair Bluff community found fliers in their yard that used the "n" word and expressed they did not want African-American students from Fair Bluff Elementary to attend the surrounding schools.
The fliers claimed come from the KKK.
Fair Bluff Elementary closed a couple months ago and students from there will now attend Cerrro Gordo and Evergreen Elementary schools.
Concerned parents met with the town council to express their concerns.
Sheriff Batton assured that extra precautions would be taken.
The sheriff's department is investigating the incident.
