NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office destroyed 20 video poker machines Tuesday morning.

The machines were seized from businesses and homes that were running illegal video poker machines inside.

The machines were taken from three different locations in Wilmington, and all charges have been filed in those cases.

Video poker became illegal in North Carolina in 2007.

The sheriff had the machines destroyed so they couldn't be used by the public again.
