WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Senator Elizabeth Dole made her way to the Port City Monday.
The Republican Senator held a campaign event as part of her North Carolina Victory bus tour.
The rally began at 10:15 in the morning on the third floor of the New Hanover County Library.
Dole was joined by a retired air force colonel and a former prisoner of war.
The event focused on the Republican presidential ticket, as well as Dole's race against Democratic opponent Kay Hagan.
There was a warm welcome for Senator dole as the continues her support for offshore drilling.
Dole isn't worried about putting rigs in our hurricane-vulnerable area, because she believes technology has improved.
According to several polls, Hagan trails Dole by a slim five point margin. Although Senator Dole has been in the senate for six years, she says it doesn't surprise her that the race between her and Hagan is close.
Dole and Hagan used to be vocal opponents of offshore drilling. Now, they both support it, although there are some differences on the issue between the candidates.
