My Turn, Your Turn: Wilmington Driving

Okay - I've been in town for a little over three months.  And you folks have been the nicest and most welcoming I've ever experienced.  But it's time now for a little tough love.  I simply can't hold back any longer.  Nobody likes to be the bearer of bad news.  But the painful truth is sometimes unavoidable.  This is going to hurt me more than it does you. But here it goes.....

You people have to learn how to drive!!!

I hate to say it because you really know how to welcome a stranger.  I've found the people here to be kind and very warm hearted.  That is, until I turn onto College Road.

This is the fifth state I've lived in.  Each has had its share of bad intersections and dangerous curves.  But nothing compares to this region; the tailgating, the speeding, cutting people off, ignoring yellow lights, the lack of turn signals and those crazy people who think a turning lane is an on ramp or passing lane - as if it were designed just for them.

Oh, I know, you're going to say it's not you.  You'll try to put the blame on the "out-of-towners" who moved here and just don't know their way around.  Sorry, I'm not buying it.  You know who you are - and you know what you need to do.  You can do better - much better.

That's my turn.  Now it's your turn.  As long as you aren't turning in front of me and cutting me off in traffic.
