Jim Hanchett

Jim Hanchett is a Co-Anchor and the Managing Editor of WECT and WSFX with 30 years in the news business. After graduating from Boston University, he worked at newspapers, radio and television stations in New York, Massachusetts, Colorado and Washington DC before coming to Wilmington.

As a correspondent for the NBC News Channel, he covered major stories in the U.S. and overseas, ranging from O.J. Simpson's trial to Mother Theresa's funeral to the 2000 presidential election to the terrorist attacks.  His reports aired on the NBC Today Show, CNBC, MSNBC and on television networks around the world.  He was also a frequent guest on shows hosted by Geraldo Rivera, Tom Snyder and Chris Matthews.

Jim volunteers with the New Hanover County schools, teaches Sunday School at his church and helps organize the annual WECT Child Car Seat Safety Check.  He also writes a column for the Wilmington Star-News.  "Father Time" offers ideas for adventures with children and is based on his own activities with his kids.

Jim is married with a daughter and three sons.
