PENDER COUNTY -- An animal rights activist of stealing a dog has been found guilty.

Author Jim Willis was found guilty of dog larceny, a case that began in Pender County.

Willis is well known among pet lovers for his popular book titled Pieces of My Heart.  The book is about his compassion for animals.

The Rocky Point man was convicted of stealing a neighbor's dog, because he didn't think it was being adequately cared for, and then not returning it.
