Scott Gardner, Deputy Director of Brunswick County Emergency Services, has declared a state of emergency in Brunswick County at 1:00 p.m. Thursday.

Voluntary evacuation of residents and visitors begins at 3:00 p.m. Thursday.

The following shelters are now open:

  • West Brunswick High School on Highway 130 in Shallotte.
  • North Brunswick High School off Old Fayetteville Road in Leland.
