AUGUST 3, 2006 -- A prominent real estate agent has died and the heat may have been a factor. Paul Sullins worked for Network Real Estate. While authorities don't know for sure why he died unexpectedly, they think the weather may have something to do with it.

Sullins was found on the porch of a home on South 6th Street in downtown Wilmington around 10:00 Wednesday morning. Sullins was fixing up the home after he had sold it.

Police say foul play is not a factor and they're awaiting autopsy results from Jacksonville, which could take up to 90 days.

The heat is affecting many in the area this week. Since Monday, more than a dozen people with heat related symptoms have been treated at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Nurses at Vitaline have received plenty of calls this week, and they say staying safe in the heat comes down to limiting your time outside. They also say if you can't limit your time outside, it's best to drink plenty of water and work with a buddy so you can keep an eye on each other.
