APRIL 17, 2006 -- Two men accused of raping a 13-year-old girl faced a judge for the first time on Monday.
Josh Alford, 24, and his 21 year-old brother Shawn Floyd were arrested on several rape charges just one week ago. Both men remain free after they appeared before Judge Sandra Criner in Wilmington.
The victim's family says Alford raped the girl three separate times while she was babysitting his children. They say Floyd raped her one time, right after his brother forced her to have sex with him.
The family says the rapes happened at Alford's house at 2903 Colonel Lamb Drive in the North Chase neighborhood. Floyd also lives at the house.
The girl's grandmother, who wants to remain anonymous, says she just wants justice.
"I would like to see them both pay for what they did to my granddaughter. I'm supposed to be able to protect her. How can you protect her when you don't know what's going on? You trust these people, and these were trusted people of the family."
The grandmother says she has known Alford for the past two years. She said he and his wife were good family friends.
Both men paid their $10,000 bond. That bond was not increased in court on Monday. The detective handling the case says she will try to get that bond increased by Tuesday morning.
