FEBRUARY 24, 2006 -- Nearly 30 inmates inside the Pender Correctional Institution are preparing for the longest visits they have ever had with their children.

Scottie Barns created the "One Day with God Camp" to help prisoners form relationships with their kids.

The men spent hours learning about parenting and relationships on Friday. On Saturday, 27 prisoners will reunite with their 54 children. In some cases, the parents and children will be meeting for the first time. For most of the men, it's been years since they have seen their kids.

This is the first time the program has been offered to inmates in Pender County. In order to participate, the fathers had to go 90 days with out any violations. Sex offenders are not allowed in the program.
