NOVEMBER 3, 2005 -- The late Dan Cameron made his mark on Wilmington in many ways, and now a local bridge will bare his name.
The North Carolina Board of Transportation unanimously approved a resolution naming the new Wilmington bypass the Dan Cameron Memorial Bridge.
The stretch is nearly two miles long and is located on Interstate 140 over the Cape Fear River. The bridge will likely open early next year.
Cameron died in July after a battle with skin cancer.
Also, Wednesday night, city council members agreed to name the 5th Street bridge for Thelma Bull and the 6th Street bridge for Harry Forden.
