OCTOBER 1, 2005 -- An accident in the water sent a man to the hospital Saturday afternoon.
It happened around 3:00pm on Futch Creek in Pender County.
The Wrightsville Beach Coast Guard received a call that a man in a rubber boat was in distress. As it turns out, the man hit his head on a day marker.
Someone spotted him and took him to a local dock where he was picked up by an ambulance and taken to the hospital.
Coast Guard officials say he did receive an injury to the head. His condition is still unknown.
