MAY 1, 2005 -- It's waiting time for a Wilmington Marine accused of murdering two detainees in Iraq.
A military hearing ended Saturday night at Camp Lejeune for 2nd Lt. Ilario Pantano. The hearing was held to determine whether Pantano should be tried in a military court on charges of premeditated murder. Pantano said he believed the men were a threat to his troops.
Officers who heard a week's worth of testimony will decide if the accusation against Pantano is worth taking to a full court martial.
Pantano himself declined to make any statement during the hearing.
