
Carol Ann JohnsonWILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - WECT has obtained a copy of the medical examiner's report for the murder of Carol Ann Johnson, and it outlines a brutal scene.
Johnson was found dead on her kitchen floor at her home on Pine Valley Drive on July 4, 2011. A bathrobe soaked in blood lay at her feet.
According to the official report from the state's Chief Medical Examiner, Johnson died of blood loss from multiple stab wounds. An autopsy revealed a total of nine stab wounds to the neck, back, and chest.
It is impossible to determine which stab wound actually killed Johnson, but the report stated that one wound to her neck or either wound to her chest could have been fatal.
Defense wounds were also present on both hands and forearms. In total, Johnson was stabbed four times in the chest, four times in the neck, and once in the back.
Johnson's fiance, Christopher Munn, told police he returned home from work around 3:00am on July 4th and found her body.
No arrests have been made and police have not released much information in their investigation. The SBI and FBI are also involved.
