WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Funeral arrangements have been set for a woman who was found dead in her home the 4th of July.

According to police, Carol Ann Johnson, 59, was found dead in her home.  They say Johnson's fiancé found her body laying on the kitchen floor when he returned home from working at Target around 3:00 a.m.

"When I got here the front door was unlocked," he told 911.  Johnson's fiance said it was unusual for it to be unlocked.

Detective S. Donelson obtained a search warrant for the home on Pine Valley Drive and the two vehicles that were parked on the property.  According to the warrants, a wound on Johnson's neck leads them to believe foul play could have been involved in her death.

Investigators seized several items including:

  • Kitchen knives
  • Broken pieces of wood
  • Red substance samples
  • Sample of unknown florescent
  • Razor blade
  • Several Clothing items

A funeral service for Johnson will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Church.
