WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - More than 200 concerned citizens rallied around two New Hanover County citizens who are being sued by Titan.

The company is suing Dr. David Hill and Kayne Darrell, alleging the two made false statements about the company at a County Commissioners meeting last year. Titan claimed the two slandered the company by knowingly making false statements in order to harm the company. Titan plans to build a cement plant in Castle Hayne.

Hill said he and Darrell are in it together.

"You could not hope to share a fox hole with a stronger fighter than Kayne Darrell and I am so honored," Hill said.

Darrell said she learned about the suit by reading it in a local newspaper.

"It's been a really difficult week since Friday when I read about this," she said. "It's something that kind of consumes's hard to get on with the rest of your life."

Today, the community rallied behind the two, trying to raise money to help them defend themselves against the suit. Fight Titan has set up a Pay Pal account for their legal defense. For more information, click here.

Titan is seeking $75,000 in damages. We have contacted the company's legal team about the suit; however, they said they have no comment.
