Crooks drive off with woman’s quilting business

Reported by Ashlea Kosikowski – bio |email

SHALOTTE, NC (WECT) - Nina Clark has her own quilting and embroidery business, one that she has been building for twelve years.

When someone stole a 6x10 trailer from outside her home on Friday morning, they didn't take just any trailer; they took Clark's entire business.

She owns NJoy's Quilts and Embroideries. Inside the trailer, Clark had countless quilts, embroidered crafts and other items she makes by hand and sells.

Quilting is Clark's passion. Her grandmother taught her how to quilt when she was a little girl.

"A quilt, when it's made with love, cannot be replaced," she said.

Her home in Shallotte is filled with patchwork and patterns.

"I enjoy making them for everybody," she said. "Some I sell, some I give away, some are for family."

The trailer housed Clark's traveling business. She used it to take her goods to various craft shows around the area. It was parked next to her home in the quiet Highlands community in Shallotte.

"They just took it all and I don't have the money to buy anything else," Clark said. "There was 12 years of everything in there. To get that all back would cost a fortune."

Clark is devastated about the crime.

She has a message for those who stole from her: "Bring it all back," she pleaded. "If they want the trailer, keep the trailer. Just bring me back all my things."

Clark said some of the items inside the trailer are irreplaceable, including her wedding quilt, which has pictures of her and her husband on it from their wedding day 34 years ago.

The trailer is 6x10 and is black. If you see it or know anything that may help solve this crime, you are asked to call Shallotte Police at (910) 754-6008.
