KURE BEACH, NC (WECT) – A new disc golf course is expected to open in Kure Beach in the beginning of the New Year.
The course's opening was delayed because of a problem with ticks and chiggers located in the brush.
This is the area's second public disc golf course, featuring a hole more than 600 feet long. It is located behind Joe Eakes Park on 7th Street.
Town council members plan to schedule national tournaments at the disc golf course which will help stimulate the local economy.
According to Mayor Dean Lambeth, the course will serve as a place to dispose of yard waste in an environmentally friendly way. They will use a wood chipper to chip up limbs and spread over the fairways.
