
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wal-Mart is teaming up with North Carolina County Emergency Management Services and the United Way to help people prepare for the hurricane season.
Stores across the area are hosting a Hurricane Preparedness and Awareness event throughout the weekend.
There will be tables set up in all stores providing shelter information, preparation checklists, pet needs, as well as special needs and senior citizen registration forms.
There are also many activities for kids, including coloring and activity forms and preparation checklists.
In New Hanover County, Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, volunteers will be at the tables to help customers prepare for an emergency.
In Duplin County, the Wal-Mart in Wallace has the Red Cross trailer and generator.
The event is being held from 10 AM - 2 PM and will last through Sunday, August 8 at the following locations:
