TABOR CITY, NC (WECT) - Investigators in Columbus County are trying to sort out the details of a shooting death late Monday night just outside Tabor City.

Randall Ray Duncan, 43, died after being shot twice in the chest and back on Old Stake Road, a mile north of the city, around 10 p.m. Monday.

Investigators say there was an argument between Randall and his brother Willard Dale Duncan.  Willard Duncan told investigators his brother called him Monday night, made threats and said he was coming over to his house.  In the dark, Willard told police he thought his brother was coming at him with a gun so he fired.  Randall died at the scene.

Police say the argument between the brothers had been going on for some time.

There was no history of problems between the two from a law enforcement standpoint, according to police.

No one has been arrested.

The case is still under investigation and under review by the District Attorney's office.
