Eric Davis - WECT, weather & sports Wilmington, NC

Eric Davis

I am a native North Carolinian who is happy to be in the Tar Heel state. I was born in Raleigh and I am a graduate of Broughton High School and N.C. State's Meteorology program. The Raleigh Tornado of 1988 and Hurricane Hugo in 1989 fueled my interest in weather when I was in high school.

After I graduated from N.C. State, I attended Mississippi State's graduate program in Broadcast Meteorology. During my fourteen year career as a Meteorologist I have had the chance to cover: blizzards, floods, tornadoes, and yes even some hurricanes. I have worked in: Rapid City, SD, Parkersburg, WV, Abilene, TX and most recently Lafayette, LA. I was a Chief Meteorologist in Parkersburg and Abilene. These wonderful opportunities have given me a wide range of experience in severe weather situations. In 1998 I was awarded the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval.

I have been married for eleven years to my wonderful wife Elizabeth and we have a son named Winston and a daughter named Anna-Scott. We also have a dachshund mixed dog named Texas (You can probably guess where we got him). I love sports such as: golf, basketball, and tennis. I'm also a big fan of John Grisham books. I am a big N.C. State fan and I always cheer for them through thick and thin (mostly thin).

Currently I am serving on Board of Director of the Phoenix Employment Ministry. This is a wonderful organization that helps the long term unemployed find gainful employment.   I am also more than happy to share my weather knowledge and experience with your school or civic organization.  Feel free to email me at
