WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The head of Wilmington's film commission expects work to pick up in the area, with or without, "One Tree Hill."
The Wilmington filmed teen drama has already surpassed "Dawson's Creek" with a seventh season, but it's unclear if the CW series will be back for another.
Fans are circulating an online petition, and have already surpassed their goal of 10,000 signatures.

People who work in the film industry want to see the show stick around, but are planning ahead incase it doesn't. Several other series and feature films are considering Wilmington for their shooting locations.
"We want to get as many years out of it as we can and enjoy the benefits of that, but we understand the day it starts eventually it will end so we can't be just depending on that," said Johnny Griffin with the Wilmington Regional Film Commission. "We've got to constantly be looking for new business and try to find new projects that we can get in here."
