WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - No matter how in love you might be, all relationships can get rocky. Big Dawg's new series of one-act plays shows us four ways that can happen.
"Since it's called Love on the Rocks, none of the plays have exactly happy endings," said actor Kevin Wilson.
But don't let that get you down.
"They're all very light-hearted," said Wilson. "They're all pretty funny."
Take, for example, the play A Marriage Proposal by Anton Chekhov.
"It's about a middle-aged hypochondriac man who decides to ask his wealthy neighbor for the hand of his daughter and insanity ensues," said Wilson.
"It kind of describes your typical bickering couple," added actress Jana Allen.
Or how about the play called Fixing Up Mom by Kathryn Martin.
"It kind of tells the story of a lady that has her daughter fix her up with a man that ends up having a list of requirements for her and she comes back with her own list," said Allen.
From hypochondria and lists, to internet dating, temptations, and arguments, this show definitely has its finger on the pulse of love.
"You'll find something that you can identify with," said Allen. "If it's not in one play, it's going to be in the other play. I think it would be fun for couples to see these actors portraying things that they would find true in their relationships."
"In one night they can see four very contrasting pieces with different actors playing different roles within the different plays," said Wilson. "So I think it would be fun. It will be a nice little variety."
And you know what they say. Variety is the spice of life, and in this case love, even when it is on the rocks.
Here is a synopsis of each one-act play from the Big Dawg Productions website:
