RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A veteran park ranger has been named superintendent of the Medoc Mountain State Park in North Carolina.
The Division of Parks and Recreation said Monday that Bill Meyer will take over the top job at the park in Halifax County. Meyer has been at Kerr Lake State Recreation Area since 1987.
Meyer replaces Joe Shimel, who was named superintendent at New River State Park in July.
Meyer will be responsible for staffing, training, law enforcement, visitor services, natural resource protection and environmental education.
Medoc Mountain State Park was created in 1972 and has nearly 4,000 acres.
