WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - It was a busy day in Wrightsville Beach, with lots of activities leading up to the Flotilla.

Hundreds of people took advantage of the free "Festival in the Park" this afternoon. There were bouncy rides, face painting, and magic tricks for the kids. Even Sammy the Seahawk stopped by.

There was plenty of food and vendors for the grown ups.

One of the festival's organizers, Michelle Clark, said it was a good way to end the Black Friday shopping weekend, by taking advantage of the local arts and crafts to get a head start on Christmas shopping.

But she said the best thing was the beautiful, sunny weather this year compared to last year's rain.

Clark also says, "I think Thanksgiving week is the perfect weekend for it because we've got a lot of out of town guests, so you can bring your family, bring your friends, show what Wrightsville Beach has to offer and just have a lot of fun."

There was also a "Toys for Tots" collection point at the festival. The money raised from the food and rides will go back into next year's Flotilla.
