WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Veteran's Day is Wednesday, but some Wilmington organizations started thanking vets a day early.
The Wilmington Rotary and Port City Java honored 14 veterans at the Coastline Convention Center Tuesday morning.
Local officials, business leaders, and military personnel gathered for lunch to reflect on the holiday.
Area veterans say Wilmington is the city it is today because of our service members.
"I think they should take time out to recognize and reflect on what the military does for them, because if wasn't for the military and the veterans in the community and stuff a lot of the businesses wouldn't be prospering the way they are now," said Joe Stanley with the Wilmington Commander, VFW Post 2573.
Military personnel can get a free tall coffee at Port City Java on Veteran's Day.
