Wynn Resorts folds on NY's Aqueduct racino bid

Posted: Updated:

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Casino mogul Steve Wynn has dropped out of the bidding to operate thousands of video slot machines at New York City's Aqueduct race track.

Las Vegas-based Wynn Resorts Limited's announcement Wednesday came two days before bidders to operate 4,500 electronic slot machines at the Queens thoroughbred track are due to deliver their final offers to the state.

Wynn's withdrawal leaves five other bidders, including Buffalo-based Delaware North Companies and a partnership involving Hard Rock Entertainment.

Wynn's company didn't say why it dropped out. A call to the company wasn't immediately returned Thursday.

Gov. David Paterson and legislative leaders have the final say on a racino deal.
