The Wilmington film industry is holding on to hope that a one hundred-million dollar film may still be coming to Wilmington. If it happens, the picture, which stars Jim Carrey, would be the biggest production ever filmed in this area.
Last year Screen Gems was contacted about possibly being the location for the Paramount picture, "Lemony Snicket's: A Series of Unfortunate Events" starring Jim Carrey. Places like Jonco Setworks were contacted about possibly being apart of the production. Along with providing jobs for those in the industry the movie would also bring in cash flow to local hotels and restaurants.
Recent reports have come out that the movie will be shot in Los Angeles in October. Leaving local workers devastated about what could have been a major boost to the Wilmington economy. But a representative for the movie says a location is still in negotiations.
