WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover County school board set a date Tuesday night to work on the redistricting plan for county middle schools.

After three public forums, which produced big crowds, board members will once again discuss the three redistricting proposals at a work session November 24th at 9 a.m.

There is a possibility that more dates will follow.  The big debate is over whether to district students by a loose "neighborhood schools" concept or by socio-economic factors to increase diversity.

The board needs to assign students to the new Holly Shelter Middle School opening next year.  Seven middle schools are considered over crowded in the district.
