WHITEVILLE, NC (WECT) - Georgia Pacific officials say the remaining lumber and plywood operations in Whiteville will shut down after the remaining stock is shipped this week.
Officials announced last October that the plywood plant would be closing because of the poor housing market.
It's estimated that over 400 employees lost their jobs, but there are hopes to re-open the plant in the spring if the construction industry recovers.
