TABOR CITY, NC (WECT) - Fall festivals are plentiful in our area during October, and this weekend is no exception.
Folks in Tabor City have been hosting the North Carolina Yam Festival for 38 years. Downtown merchants are decked out with the familiar festival logo, Mr. Tabor, and there are plenty of sweet potatoes to enjoy. All events are created in an effort to help boost the town's economy.

The Yam Festival will take place in Tabor City all weekend long, but if you want to enjoy a festival just yards away from the ocean, then you need to head to Holden Beach. Normally this time of the year, people are there for the fishing, but thousands will invade the Brunswick County beach town for the Festival By The Sea event.
A parade along the causeway kicks things off Saturday morning, with Bob Townsend as the parade marshal. By Saturday morning, the parking lot under the bridge over the ICW will be packed with over 80 vendors selling their wares.
