
Willa Carol Warriax (Source: Robeson County Sheriff's Office)PEMBROKE, NC (WMBF) - A Pembroke woman is facing manslaughter charges after Robeson County investigators say she shot and killed a man on North Chicken Road.
According to Robeson County Maj. Howard Branch, authorities arrested Willa Carol Warriax, 46, on Tuesday night. Deputies were called to a home in the 2800 block of N. Chicken Road just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, where they found Woody Cummings, who lived at the address, shot once. Cummings, 56, was pronounced dead around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Branch said the two lived together at the home on Chicken Road. Warriax has been charged with voluntary manslaughter.
The Robesonian newspaper reported Thursday that officials said the shooting occurred after a fight and that Warriax appeared to have been drinking.
