WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Brigade Boys and Girls Club kicked off graduation season Monday, and they say their graduates are a success in class and in life.
The club graduated eight students in their "Success for Teens" program, which is an eight-week course on goals, self-esteem, and achievement.
Graduates were honored with certificates and applause from proud parents.
Organizers say the lessons learned int he course go far beyond the text book.
"The biggest thing they take away is knowing that they can do something that they do have support from other people, from their parents, from the Brigade," said director of marketing Angie Hill. "I think that's really important to know if you take a chance there are people there to support you. I think this was a true testament of that today."
This is the second year the program has been offered.
