COMMUNITY CLASSROOM: Teacher wants Cricut machine to inspire future designers

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The media specialist at Ogden Elementary School is hoping to inspire future designers.

Kathy Dolan is requesting a Cricut machine through Donors Choose, an online charity organization that helps teachers across the country fund their projects.

A Cricut machine is used to cut paper, vinyl and plastic. Dolan says it will allow students to get creative and involved in designing, even those who aren’t necessarily academically gifted.

“Even the most reluctant student can find something they love to do when it comes to artistic endeavors, whether it’s through music, art, dance, whatever the case may be,” Dolan said. “But to reach a child that may not be academically successful, sometimes projects like this can make them feel that same sense of success as others.”

Dolan has set a goal of $602 to fund her project. Once it is fully funded, Donors Choose will purchase the Cricut machine and deliver it to the school.
