WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Five area programs have been awarded money to help continue their work in the arts.
The Arts Friendly Foundation is in its second year and supports arts programs throughout the Wilmington community.
The foundation raised more than $4,000 in 2018 and split the money evenly between five different arts organizations.
“What I want to see this turn into is an ongoing annual line item that these organizations can put into their budget that they can count on," said Craig Stinson, president of the Arts Friendly Foundation.
The recipients of the money were DREAMS Center for Arts Education, Opera Wilmington, Thalian Association Community Theatre, Wilmington Arts Association, and the Wilmington Jewish Film Festival.
The program runs off of donations given from business and community members, making it easy for anybody to help support.
Not even a month into its second year, Arts Friendly has raised close to half of its 2018 total.
