Chirinos plays Amahl, an impoverished boy who encounters the three kings when they stop at his cottage on their way to find the baby Jesus.

Gian-Carlo Menotti wrote Amahl and the Night Visitors on commission from NBC. It was first on television in 1951.

Other Opera Wilmington favorites star in the production, including Maria Beery as Amahl’s mother and Rusty Kling, Quentin Lovette, and Carl Samet as the three kings.

The Opera Wilmington Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Joe Hickman, will be joined by the UNCW Chamber Choir and Forest Hills Global Elementary School.
