WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Bitty & Beau’s Coffee will open its third location in Savannah, Ga. this weekend, according to founder and CEO Amy Wright.
The Wilmington-based coffee shop will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. at the shop which is located at 319 W. Congress Street. The new shop will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Amy and Ben Wright founded Bitty & Beau’s Coffee in 2016, in honor of their two youngest children, Bitty and Beau, who have Down syndrome. Bitty & Beau’s locations employs people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“We created Bitty & Beau’s Coffee to show the world that people with disabilities should be valued, accepted and included members of society, especially in the workplace,” said Amy Wright. “It’s a place where diversity is not just appreciated, it’s celebrated.”
The original Wilmington shop opened in Jan. 2016 and a second shop opened in Charleston, SC in Feb. 2018. The shops, which employ approximately 80 people, have been featured on numerous national news outlets including The Today Show, TIME, The Rachael Ray Show, Harry, Good Morning America, HLN, and People Magazine.
Amy Wright was named CNN’s Hero of the Year during a ceremony on Dec. 2017.
