CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Two players from this season’s Carolina Panthers squad were selected on Friday to the 2018 AP All-Pro teams.
Luke Kuechly, the team’s standout middle linebacker, was named First Team All-Pro after completing a season in which he notched 130 tackles, including 20 for a loss, and added two forced fumbles, an interception and a fumble recovery as well. Kuechly continued to provide a consistent excellence to the team’s defense during an otherwise difficult season.
Christian McCaffrey’s breakout season was further recognized with his selection to the Flex spot on the NFL’s Second Team All-Pro roster. McCaffrey compiled 1,965 total yards from scrimmage and 107 receptions, an NFL record for a running back. McCaffrey’s contributions were especially valuable for the team as quarterback Cam Newton and the offense increasingly relied upon him while battling injuries.
These selections mark Kuechly’s sixth All-Pro designation and McCaffrey’s first time receiving this honor in only his second season in the league.
