CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) - The Pleasure Island branch of the New Hanover County Public Library will be open two hours longer on Mondays and Tuesdays, as well as four hours longer on Saturdays. The branch will now also be open on Sundays.

Beginning on Monday, Jan. 7 the new hours will be:

  • Monday and Tuesday: 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Wednesday and Thursday: 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Friday and Saturday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Sunday: 1-5 p.m.

The library currently closes at 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m. on Fridays and 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The branch is also the only one in the county that is currently closed on Sundays.

“Extending the hours at our Pleasure Island branch will offer more opportunities for patrons to visit the library and participate in our programs,” said New Hanover County Public Library Director Harry Tuchmayer. “All four of our public library locations will now have the same operating hours, which creates more consistency and will be easier for our customers.”
